Katies osage bow
« on: August 09, 2012, 08:41:50 pm »
A few weeks ago we went to visit our friends Doug and Katie at their cabin in Michigan. Last fall I gave Doug a hackberry bow when they were down visiting us. On this trip I took a few bows along for Katie to shoot and pick one out for herself. She liked this osage bow that I was just about finished with so I brought it back home, fine tuned the tiller to the best of my abilities, put a finish on, a little decoration,
wrapped the handle in pigskin leather and am shipping it back to it's new owner tomorrow.
Doug and Katie are two of the nicest people I know and are both adventuresome individuals to say the least. Katie grew up in Alaska and family vacations were sometimes backpacking trips in to wilderness areas to camp. She's spent time in Antarctica, Thailand, kayaked with
Doug from Washington up thru the inside passage to Alaska, and many other adventures.
She loves the bow, will probably shoot it often and that makes me happy.

I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.

Nice bows!
"The way of heaven is like the bending of a bow-
the upper part is pressed down,
the lower part is raised up,
the part that has too much is reduced,
the part that has too little is increased."

Nice work Greg. There's no better feeling than gifting someone a bow and knowing it will get used.

Forgot to list specs on bow; 58' ntn & about 38-40# @ 25"
Had a 5/16 cedar arrow 35# spine and 385 gr. that shot really fast and super silent from this bow. Was kind of an eye opener to me on
speed from lower poundage bow with 10 gpp, didn't want to stop shooting in the backyard was so much fun.

i gotta say i haven't seen one of your bows that's "badly bent", I've enjoyed seeing them all, and giving a bow to someone that will truly enjoy it is my favorite thing about building bows, Bub
failure is an option, everyone fails, it's how you handle it that matters.

Looks like the little girl from "Brave" grew up and didn't outgrow bows!!!

Nice bow, brother.
