Fighting knife for a new soldier
« on: June 05, 2012, 09:56:13 am »
A little over a week ago a friend of mine called me about making a knife for his son that was graduating from basic.  He left it open ended to do whatever I wanted just make it big.  This was forged out of 1/4" x 1.5" 1084 steel, OAL length is a little over 11", tapered tang, forged finger guard, and a shaving sharp clip.

The sheath is deer rawhide over veggie tan.

That is a first class killin knife right there. Allways been partial to that blade shape for the purpose. He ought to be proud to carry that, it's "all business".

Sweet lookin' Taliban whacker.  What's the handle, Cocobolo?  1/4" thick that long makes for a hefty blade!  >:D

That's a good looking one, Jonathan. And really like the sheath, too. The box went in the mail today, and your Postman isn't going to be happy >:D.

Awesome!  I can't wait to try it all out, Eddie.  Thanks again man.

Thank all of you for the kind words.  The young man seemed very pleased with it, and I guess that's the most important thing.  I "think" the scales are cocobolo, but I'm not sure.  I got them in a drawing at out local knife guild meeting.

The sheath is very cool Jon. I love it. Good use of your great imagination.

A real beauty. I like how you left part of that blade rough looking. The sheath is pretty cool looking too  ;)
