A few points from some "Pappyite"

Big A and I went on a little "rock run" down on the creek at Twin Oaks yesterday. We picked up a bucket full of some decent material! I only took 4 pieces and left the rest for Anthony to learn on. I ended up making a couple doves and a little Kirk corner notch. I think Im gonna haft the larger 4" dove on a piece of bone.

Thanks you guys! Stringman, its some kind of Ft. Payne varient but since it comes from Pappys creek we call it "Pappyite"    I think Cowboy coined the phrase

Thanks Derik    Yes it is awesome being in such a flint rich part of the country! Ft Payne in my back yard and KY Blue, Dover, TN Black and Horse Creek all within 60 to 100 miles

Thanks Don    I was trying some oblique flaking on the medium dove. Looked super good before I removed the deltas... I really want to get the pattern flaking down. I look at Sawfilers stuff and just drool

Those are cool Will.  Do you have to heat treat that flint?

Thanks John! Nope I just pulled it out of the creek and started knappin! Most of the black varietys of Ft Payne dont do well with heat. The tan varietys on the other hand slick up a bit with some heat. Id say its about a 2.5 or 3 on the lithic scale raw

Dang Will your really slicking them things up! That is nice to have flint all over the place down there in the creek, just keeps on washing out. I brought home about two buckets all told. Need to get em made..
