The tool fairy visited my house too
« on: February 02, 2012, 04:18:33 pm »
My Dad brought this stuff to me today.  He is cleaning out my Grandpa's old tool shed so he can tear it down.  He found these tools and thought I might be able to use them.

2 draw knives, a curved drawknife that I think is for scooping out chair seats?, a stanley spoke shave, and a small lathe

Some horns for tip overlays, a saw blade for trade points, 2 wedges that would have really been handy this summer, and a throwing knife made from an old file.  I don't know squat about throwing knives, but I stuck it in the side of the shed the 3 out of 4 tries.  I guess it is balance pretty good.

I am going to take the drawknives and the spoke shave to work tonight so I can lightly sandblast them.  They have some surface rust and 20 years of grime on them.

I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

I think the curved drawknife is a coopers knife. for making barrels. I also see a monkey wrench.

Cool find! Even better because they are your Grandpa's stuff.
Bowmakers are a little bent, but knappers are just plain flaky.

Nice treasures! The "monkey" wrench is actually a Stilson wrench.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

very very nice. your grandpa would probably be glad for you to have and use them.

and ive found that a good balance in a throwing knife goes a LOOOOONG way.
