Iron Pirate Inclusions
« on: February 12, 2012, 12:52:48 am »
I was spalling out some grainy chert that came from Vancouver Island BC and there was some iron pirate cub inclusions in it. Anyone else ever see this before in chert? Would look interesting if I could get some of it in a point.

I've seen it in some of the creek chert here in TN before. Mostly the the blue black ft Payne variety. I made a little blade out of some of it that you could see the fools gold in it. Pretty cool :) gotta love rocks, never know what you'll find :)

There is a blackish grey flint in Richland Springs TX with it. Its tough raw, but the chert takes heat well. Makes pretty points.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

I've seen it in TX before. Think i saw some in some of the Rhyolite i got from James Parker.. Or at least that point he wears around his neck had a flake or two.

Haven't seen any chert with pyrite in it, but I have some NC rhyolite that has a very very fine vein of it running through it. The sparkle caught my eye so I put a magnifying glass to it and can see very tiny cubes. Rick B
