Tigerwood (goncalo alves) questions

  Working on a deck using tigerwood. the boards are 1" by 5 1/2". I will probly end up with several 6' boards. Was just curious to hear any experiences that any of you may have had with this exotic wood. What kind of backings youve used with good or bad results or any general info or suggestions. Thanks fo reading

I have read about quite a few people using goncalo alves boards for bowmaking.  As long as you back it, it has been quite a performer.  Backings I have heard about include bamboo, hickory, rawhide, and linen.

here's one I built, backed it with maple, got to bendy at the fades so added the red oak belly lam, tools real nice and it's fairly snappy, and a pretty color to, Bub
