First Point Broken and First Point Finished...

Hello Everyone,

Was privileged to get a chance to meet Mr. Tower over the weekend.
He was very Kind in coming by my home and sitting down with this Blank Slate Newbie (me) and attempting to give me a bit of guidance.
Along with the guidance that Mr. Tower very patiently attempted to pass to me, he also laid out just about everything I might need to get me started down the path of knapping.
Tools and Rock, along with Preforms and some pieces that he had worked down to the point of being ready for final shaping.

You are a very kind, well spoken, Polite, and knowledgable individual.
Look forward to talking with you more in the future.

On a side note, I have to say that it is inspiring to meet good people.
And I've met and dealt with, quite a few Good people affiliated with Primitive Archer.

Okay, So here is my first attempt at a pointy arrowhead shaped rock...

The pleasure was mine. Rarely do I get a chance to knapp with someone. You off to a good start. I like the point! You did good on the notches.

Hands on guidance is worth a year of beating rock by yourself. And you couldn't ask for a better teacher.

Never thought breaking rocks could be so rewarding.
Have to go back through my rock collection to see if any are knappable.

It definitely helps to have a point of reference and an accomplished knapper to point the way.

Need to keep my eye open for a Knapp In around the East Texas area.

And keep breaking rocks.

Remember to put your first point in a safe place in a year it will mean a whole lot to you. That is a real good looking point.  I wish I could have sat sown with someone for my first go at it.

Nice Gus, my first looked a lot like that too.  Wait, my last one looks a lot like that too.  It's a great addiction.

Now i'm jealous. I'm gonna have to get down to San Marcos and meet this Tower guy . That's a nice starter point there..

Here are a few more points that look a little like small spear points or large arrow heads.
Oldest from the left to most recent on the right.
The three on the left are from preforms that Mr. Tower left with me.
The two on the right are from some of the fine rock that he left in my keeping.

I have to say that ring of breaking rock is very soothing to my spirit.
Who'd a thunk it?

Gus looks great.  I see progress keep hitting stone and you are going to to fine it easier and easier.

Lookin good. Remember centerline & sometimes ya need to remove a little mass on the sides of the platform to isolate & helps it to detach .

I Know I've got a long row to hoe.
Seeing a bit more now but a lot of this stuff is hard for me to read.
On the Rock that is.

On my second tube of neosporin now (hard headed/impatient), and starting to abrade the rock more to increase control and keep the cuts down...
All of my tools are fully blooded now and should be good to go for the foreseeable future...
