thats right a major award
im sure some of you have seen me mention that my family watches "A CHRISTMAS STORY" religiously every year for the holidays
for us its a tradition
both my sons this year were unable to be home for christmas
when i talked to them they were upset that they werent here to watch the show with mom and i
well they made it home for the new year
so we celebrated our christmas this past weekend
we smoked a wold turkey and baked another
i popped in my dvd copy of A CHRISTMAS STORY
we gathered as a family once again,it felt right in the house once more.
we ate supper afer watching an episode or three,opened gifts as we watched another
i got a hiler set of wood framed,rawhide laced bearpaw style snow shoes and bindings from youngest son Wes (also the other goodies i posted
)
my wife got me a foldeable table for takeing to knap inns and she told me she also has a 3 piece take down bow kit on order for too
(i think she loves me
)
my oldest son tells me "sorry dad, your gift hasnt arrived as of yet.i ordered it a few days ago"
i tell him "no worries just tell me what it is,and i'll thank you for it",he says "nope,you'll have to wait for it to be delivered"
well today it showed up n the fron step.
a wooden crate,just like in the movie wit hthe words "fragile" on the side and all(just a smaller crate is all )
i seen it and didnt realize right away what it was and just told my son "hey theres a box on the front step"
he looks out at it ,then it hits me it doesnt say "fragile" it says " FRA GE LE" (like the dad in the movie says it)
i start to grin ear to ear,i realize what my son ordered for me
i know some of you,probably most of you think its as corny as it gets
but i love it
i have actually wanted a lamp like this for years and never had a spot for it
well the wife is finishing redecorating a room for my "NEW AND IMPRIVED MAN CAVE"
i mentioned to her a few weeks back that once my room is finished i should try ad find my lamp finally
well she told me son,and what do you know
that young man acatually went out of his way to try and find this and paid extra for the wood crate (i think he loves he dad
)
he knew that i would actually like this
i have it placed in my window of the house for now,and for the pic
i already warned the wife that from now on
every year for christmas this will be in the front window of the house,just like in the movie
other than a RED RYDER 200 SHOT RANGE MODEL LEVER ACTION RIFLE WITH THE COMPASS IN THE STOCK AND THIS THINGY THAT TELLS TIME
this and my box of stoggies are the best christmas presents a guy could get
