« on: August 13, 2010, 09:44:14 pm »
Ok guys, I need a good way to protect my knapped points while hunting.  I would like to see what you do inside your quiver for point protection.

thanks

i used to make point covers from cardboard- they were designed to fall off as the arrow is drawn. Now i use a foam block with slots in it- the block has four slots for four arrows and is attached to the quiver.

Foam in the bottom of the quiver or individual slots lined with hair on deer hide.

Tell,
I went with the NA style....use moss stuffed into the bottom of the guiver.....works good, smells good, it's anti-microbial, and easy to replace when it gets chewed up a smidge.

I use a piece of sheepskin with the wool left on. It's the same stuff the use to pad good saddles, it even holds up to metal broadheads.

I have used the foam ya can get from floral shop. it is usually blue or green. it is cheap and all ya got to do is lightly jab the arrow in and it don't move much.

God Bless

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

I like Spanish moss too. Every time I visit the Deep South, I try to snarf me a few handfuls for quiver bottoms. The main way I protect my points, though, is to miss most of the critters I shoot them at. That way they don't get all nicked up hitting bones and stuff. ;D

Hey Hillbilly, have you noticed that if you make your arrows right, you can shoot them into the ground 5 or 6 times and it doesn't hurt them?  Bill
