Hickory Longbow (Not for BOM)

Here is another bow I made after that deflex recurve. Its hickory and is 72" long, 1.25" in the inner third of the bow and then tapers to 3/8" nocks. It draws about 50# @ 28". The tips are blood wood and there is a piece of blood wood on the back where I put my hand. I wanted to make this bow after I saw robin hood and I think it turned out pretty good. It settles into about an inch of reflex but after shooting it looks like it takes a bit of a gull winged look. It draws smooth and shoots good. I think on the next one I'll get the handle and tips working a little more. Thanks for looking.

That's a lot of bow Ryan. The bloodwood tips look great. Heck, the whole bow looks really great.
You going to bring it down to MOJAM this year? Bet it would be perfect for the clout shoot...

Clean and sweet, no sign of string follow.
Nice to see a longbow.

Thanks everyone.
Paul - I'm hoping to bring a few down to show and hopefully something to work on. I'd love to find a place to do some long distance shooting with it.

Here are more pics hillbilly.
I tried to get it so you could see that the back is slightly rounded as I tried to take advantage of hickory's tensile strength. You can also see the odd unbraced profile caused by the limbs taking most of the set. Thanks for looking.

Hey Ryan,
Glad to here you are coming down. Look forward to seeing you and your bows again. If ya don't have something to work on I'll bet we can find a stave or two for you to "play" with...
