I got some wonderful ipe from Rich T. a little while ago, and seeing as it was nice and thick with perfect grain I wanted to make some non-laminate bows from it. Here's the first one, and a Christmas gift for my brother while I'm fixing his other ones.
Finished off at 64" between the narrow 5/16" pin nocks. Only about 1 5/8" wide, I messed up tillering this one several times because I was afraid it would break. Came in at about 65# at 28". I had to tack the hickory handle on in addition to reglueing it. Backed with cotton and painted with Rustoleum. Shoots hard and straight. Just needs a good string. Shoots hard and straight, and depsite some mess ups with the paint is one of my nicest finished bows.
