Holy cow !......how did this thread come back up, that was quite some time ago.


Laiebow, I would say guava is a real good bowwood, top bowyers have tryed it in the mainland and where impressed by it,.......I work at OLA Turtle bay, come and check me out and I give you all kinds of info.

NTProf, the handle looks like it was Jute, ...just a simple wrap, like a serving wrap

that bow was retillered to a 29" draw for a bowswap on Pirates of archery





looks like the new grip is Hemp

Manny I shorted out my hotbox the other day, couldn't heat up my guava yet, but soon...

Mine is plain white, almost looks like ash; hope I got the right kind. But anyway it's tough stuff and I'm sure it'll work!
How is it to heat treat it?? Steam or try??
That stuff really doesn't check, that's for sure...

 even here the color varies from really lite to quite dark, but then again you might have a different spieces, is it "Strawberry Guava" ?

even the real lite ones darken nicely once you put the finish on and pretty fast with exposure.

as for bending, Guava doesn't really want to bend much, really likes to go back to original shape  >:(  ......I had more success doing side bends on narrow handles or narrow limbs.

It doesn't shoot any different than a bow without a crook  ;D ;D    ( as far I can remember  ;) haven't seen this bow in a long long time )
