Clovis...inspired by Leapingbare
« on: October 19, 2009, 10:19:07 pm »
Jesse gave me a big 'ol bi face the other day. I don't know why he didn't make something from it ??? But he said I could have it ;D
I'd been studying it for a day or two trying decide what I was gonna do with it and finally decided it was gonna be a Clovis or nothing!
I thinned it down some and narrowed it a little.  Set up a nipple (as he described) took a deep breath and hit it just like it was any other isolated platform...it worked :o.  Set up the other nipple and gave it a good whack too!  Unbelievably...still one piece :o 8)
I'm real happy with one side. The other one stopped a little short cause it hit a small step.  I could have probably made a little stronger platform and gotten a little deeper/longer flutes. But for my first try, I'm just tickled I didn't have to break out the super glue. ;D
 Thanks Jesse

BTW, my wife has the good camera with her. Sorry for the crappy pics.

Why you ole bowmakin', knife makin', cane arrow makin', clovis point makin', Kentuckian!  ;D Is there anything you can't do, and extremely well I might add! ;)

During Shannon's visit with us a couple of weeks ago, he introduced me to knife making which I'm very appreciative of. I don't know if I've ever met a person as naturally talented with his hands as Shannon is. He really is a perfectionist, and everything he does shows a great attention to detail and knowledge base beyond his years. Did I mention that he is an all around good person as well! ;)

Don't listen to him Shannon! Just because copper head skins are my all time favorite doesn't mean I would butter you up just to get on your good side. Remember Pappy is still wanting a nice one to match the one I gave him a few weeks back and he doesn't want me competing with him for one of your skins! ;D

Shoooot, I don't need no butter'n up. I respond better to cash!!! ;D
Really, I think I have a match to one of those skins Pappy has. And like I said, when there's a bow finished and waiting...we'll work something out. ;)
