New Red Oak bow
« on: April 13, 2009, 08:35:04 pm »
Today was my day off, so I went to work anyway (if you own your own business you know this story), to help a contractor re-lamp the work room.   Move tools, benches and fixtures, raise a 16' folding ladder, and proceed to pull lamps and ballasts.   As time allowed I worked on a new red oak bow.   It is 66" oberall, just over 1 1/2" wide at he widest parts, narrowing to about 1/2" at the nocks.   It is pulling 40# at 24" now, and the tiller looks "OK".  I want it to pull a good 27" when complete.   Nope, no pics yet but I'll try to snap a couple tomorrow.

I may add a fabric backing for looks and some safety potential.

As usual, this one is to give away.   I have yet to make one for myself, just to shoot and enjoy.

Back in the saddle again.  It has been over a month since I sawed out a bow.  Feels good to get back to it.
