This was the first cool day we've had since last year. So I took advantage of it and played some. After reading Billy's article I thought I'd put together a few arrows with "bird" points and try shooting a hog when I get back down to the private property I get to hunt. I'd like to see how they penetrate that shield on a hog. I made these little points out of flakes that I save when I'm percussion flaking. They do not have pressure flaking all the way across, just enough to make the edges staight and deadly. I've found quite a few artifacts like this, so I know the natives did this also. Two are made from Coral, one from Kade County and the black one from Danish Flint. I also banged out that little knife blade.

Good lookin' points Eddie, hope you can punch through a hog with one of them!

Brian, JC keeps those places secret. He's digging them about 30 miles north of my house. Let him dig them, I know where JC lives >:D

Pappy, I haven't mounted them yet. Im trying to decide to use cane or a heavy wood arrow and taper the point end. My friend, Claude just mounts the small ones to a piece of cane with two-fletch and they fly really good. I've mounted three on Maple fore shafts. The finished one weighed in at 100Grns. I used an arrow Hillbilly made for me and fitted the insert into the socket. The cane and arrow weighed in at 550 grns. I'll try to get some pictures up tomorrow.
