Title: yew limb bow question
Post by: huntinoly on August 21, 2008, 08:28:26 pm
I am making a bow for a friend son. I have a yew limb about 2" in diameter. It is 62" long and fairly strait, I cut it in half with my band saw. My question is should I trim the sap wood, if I don't it will not have any heart wood in places. It is a bend thru the handle bow and I am shooting for 35 to 40# at 25". Greg

I don't know for sure but you could probably get 45#@25" with just sapwood. You can reduce the sapwood and usually grain violation isn't a problem with yew.      Pat
