First two pics are a brand new elm staff I procured today. Should make a dandy of a warbow.

Next is a replica of one of the Nydam bows. Followed by one I made out of dense erc.

Nice bows Thimo! That ERC looks just wicked! I am on the hunt for some but cannot locate any :'(
When I do i will war bow it for sure. What weight did you get out of it?

Very nice Thimo. What is the draw weight on that ERC bow? It is very well tillered
-
Thanks guys.
It has gone down now (from extensive shooting) too 85#. It was nearly 100#.
-
That was good ERC. I made one for Marlon a couple years ago that was massive, fully 1 3/4" wide at the center yet I don't think it pulled 120# @ 32"

Great looking warbow Thimo! - that full draw shot looks like it hurt a little, I'd hate to be on the recieving end :-X ;D.
-
Thanks guys.
That "war-face" comes out when I'm concerned about the "integrity" of a bows back. The erc was riddled in knots and I made more than a few hasty mistakes while debarking. LOL
-
thimo! that erc bow is really beautiful!! ...well i like the others, too...but the erc is special!

yup that erc was and still is my favorite bow youve made. im looking forward to the newest elm...

Thanks.
Well I went and reduced the limbs on the elm while still green, down to 1/4" of the final specs. Now I'll let it dry a bit.
-
I'm not as rash as it may sound. I first cut a section and worked it down into a small sample of the cross-section. Oven dried it last night and tested it's density, which came in at the high .70's. The trees that grow here near the Great-Dismal swamp seem to always come out denser that the same trees taken in other surrounding forests.

I like the tiller on the erc, you really got those outside limbs working nicely. Steve

Thimo-
Seriously man, you are an inspiration!
Also, it is good to see someone who has a shop as messy an mine!
