Thanks in advance for any help!
My name is Fernando Dorigon, and I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I need some help for a very simple bow, and I would like so much to receive some tips to how to work the bamboo for backing the ipe.
By the way, some one have the work-along pics from a previews bow from ipe wood?
Our, any simple project from one IPE-bamboo bow?
Thanks!

Fernando, Welcome! Its great to have new folks join in and especially from other countries. 8)
Bamboo backed ipe makes a good bow combo. I've only made a few boo backed ipe bows so I'll let someone more experienced pitch in with more info. There may already be a build along in the Build Along section or in depth discussions under Bows.
Looking forward to seeing pics of your first bow. Good luck and keep us posted! Pat

Thanks Mullet!
Everywhere at Brazil has Ipe!
When you to fly to here, take a look under and look for this tree, called in the Brazil like iron wood . Very strong!

Welcome Fdorigon.
Good Lord Mullet, get us a connection for ipe stave wood. I'm assuming stave wood would be desirable. I've always been curious about that.

I have that tree growing in my front yard, It's a Tababue isn't it? DCM, I have to ship a lot of samples back to Orlando, >:D and I'm bringing the Agriculture permits with me. ;D

Eddie, Don't forget your buddies! ;D

Eddie we have a few of those growing in town, I have been fighting the urge to visit them at night with the folding saw...
I never have got a hold of a stave either, but have made many selfbows from pipe straight boards.. Of course I would pay nicely to get a stave just to make one from it..
You could get a good side gig going!

Rich, before I new it was ipe, a neighbor had a huge,14" trunk, 55' tree cut up into little pieces. The city I live in will plant them and water them for free in front of your house on the right of way. You just have to call. I wonder how many times They would replace them.
I'll see what I can work out while I'm down there. I won't have the luxury of a translator this time. But I can order beer in 4 languages. ;D

you can order beer in 4 languages, and you say you dont have a translater lol
heck ya hook us up. >:D

Tim, A country boy can survive, ;)

jEddie, :D 4 languages, that makes you bilingual! ;D Ya Good luck and have fun!
We have a couple species of the Lapacho tree (Ipe) growing here, but since they are at the courthouse and a local city park...don't think I would get to far..One other contact which I thought was going to pay off had his tree hauled away as well..
