Finished up a pair that been working on the last week. Theese were the first I have done with Cocabola. I think it is my new favorite riser wood. It is sweet. One is a tri-lam Static recurve. Or a working recurve what ever you guys want to call it , we had this discusion on the last one I posted. It 60" and 50# and the other is a 68" r/d 50#

Pappy
-
Why is the cocobola your favorite? just for the looks or because of some other reason? Beauty's, both of them by the way.
-
Very fine looking bows the both of them! :)
-
are those trilams? it's hard to tell...
-
just the look of it, most of the woods i have used are shades of brown, the orange really stands out, the next one i am going to put some bloodwood accents with it.
-
whats the belly and core wood ?
-
the recurve is a tri-lam. Like to do it this way because the limbs are thinner than if i used a solid piece. PLus its alot easier bending two thin piece over one thick piece, less chance of it splintering.
-
Coco is my favorite riser wood also because it is beautiful, heavy, hard and polishes so well. The only problem that I have with it is that it tends to move more than any other wood I handle, meaning that it tends to warp and crack easily. Jim

Those are some fantastic looking bows. Do you have any trouble glueing Cocobolla?
-
I havent yet both stayed real tight.
-
hey you really make nice bows!

THose are really, really nice. Excellent craftsmanship and the tillers look right on.

They look great and I bet they're fast.
-
whats the belly and core wood ?
Absolutely bar raisers for those who want to include superior wood crafting to their bowyer skills.
And yes, what are the woods?

sorry, missed your question Ryano. Argantine osage for belly and core, it is really great to work with, thats all that i use to build with now except for some Ipe once in a while
