I got a text from Marie today telling me that the server was shutting the PA forum down tomorrow. End of an era! A sad one.
-
That is really sad news. Really bummed out that this is happening. Thanks to all for tips on making bows. I really enjoyed this sight.
-
I won't get a chance to post the other bows that I have made in the last 6 months. Good things, and people always seem to suffer in this world.

Yes very sad indeed. It’s surprising that no sort of arrangement could be had to keep a version of this going. I get the impression that current owners want nothing to do with it anymore. Was an offer made or any sort of tabled deal looked at? I had mentioned to them that I would appreciate an email or call to support financially or be part of a deal with a group of others even. Was this idea not explored??? I’m sure there were others that were interested too like myself. To then hear it’s going down tomorrow… I’m hoping that the archives can be revived after the fact once they detach themselves from it perhaps bring it back to something similar hopefully. It would be a shame to just let all that archived knowledge blow away in the breeze and be lost. By the sounds of it to hear it’s happening so quickly and no mention of any offers being tried at least that they just want to be done and that maybe offers made not worth mentioning. Idk. What a shame.

With gratitude I would like to thank all those here at pa that helped me and others like me on this journey of primitive archery. It’s been my pleasure to associate with you all these last 4-5years. Thankyou for your guidance and thanks to the forum hosts for having the site up and running as long as it did. Cheers. Dave Bradley

Yes the end of an era. Sorry to read this news and would like to say a huge thank you to all over the years. Especially the moderators and those that provided so much.
I will miss Life is Good, in particular.
Best to all and thank you for the years.

Really sorry to see this site go. I have been making selfbows for about 7 years now and the information here has been invaluable.
I would like to stay in touch with any Canadian bowyers if possible. I am in Abbotsford, Britiish Columbia. My interests lie in traditional 3D shoots and rendezvous, arrow making and building self bows from mainly yew, vine maple and other locally sourced woods.
Please drop me a line at crcopland@gmail.com anytime.
Thanks Primitive Archer.

I’ve been lurking a bit on Facebook and such. It will be real hard to replace this site and the way it has operated with all the great folks. You can find Selfbowman on the leatherwall for now.

We can all go to leather wall, and post pics, and discuss wood bow making. Arvin ,and some others frequent leather wall, and they will welcome you with open arms. There are many guys over there interested in wood bow making, If all the members here go over there it will still be a great forum to visit as far as wood bow making is concerned. Get over there, and post pics of your bows, arrows etc, and share your knowledge.

Devastating news. Hope you all find a new home in the new arenas like Facebook groups or Reddit. I love this community and will miss many of you if we don’t speak again. Feel free to reach out.

This site ultimately led me to intense hunting memories.
I am speechless, logging in tonight, wondering, only to find this is it.
God Bless all of you.

Devastated. Everything I know about building bows was taught me by the folk on this forum. Anyone interested can reach me at avenue.woodcarving@yahoo.co.uk or at my blog at Avenue woodcarving

I’m sorry to hear this. I have learned so much from the members of this site over the years. Pat B, you and many others were so important in helping me improve. It has really helped improve my bow building by asking questions and reading about other bowyers work. I have made numerous friends here. Sorry to see it go.

Very sad news. I'm especially gonna miss "Life is Good".
Wondering if bookmarking threads would save them just to read back through? Not that tech-smart and it seems a shame to let all the old info and entertainment just vanish.
Anyway, thanks to everyone here for sharing all the knowledge over the years. I wasn't a big poster, but I certainly read and learned tons here over the years. Thank you all again!

Thank You to all here that have been so very helpful to me. I've only been here for a short while but you guys have been very helpful in shortening the learning curve.
Thanks again, this site will be missed.
-
I started my bow building journey only a few years ago and this site and the great members have helped me more than I can say, so I thank you all for that. I would love to keep this going, are there any other forums that folks are on that could provide a transition? Sleek mentioned paleoplanet, but it only works if everyone is on board. Just wondering, I for one, don't want to see this end
-
There is also tradgang paleo planet and stick bow/leatherwall for those wanting a space similar to this site. You will see some familiar names op up on these forums from here.
-
If anyone is truly interested in taking the PA forum over please contact me or Marie. We have the contact info for it.
Only serious prospects please.
-
This is sad. If you decide to switch to the Leatherwall, a lot of us are there. PLEASE remember that your posted pictures can't be any larger than 640 on the largest side...Phil spends way too much time editing because of oversized pictures. The Paleo site is another good option might be Archerytalk.
