This is the first piece of Kay county chert I've had any luck with. I was about to swear off that rock but this one turned out pretty good.

That rock looks like it has a fingerprint on it. Nice point Allyn.

Yes it is a cool looking stone. Thanks musky

Super nice point Allyn! Don’t think I’ve ever hit that material.

If I have any more I'll save it for you. I bought a Hodge podge of rock off a guy at mojam a few years ago so I'm not even sure what I have.

Wish I could see the pictures. I tried a couple times but it says I don’t have a goggle account. Funny because I have a picture album.
I’m sure it’s a nice one though

Ha! I saw that, too!
Nifty looking point. I like it.

Thanks JW. Brian I'll send it to you. I need to figure out how to post pictures on here the normal way

Thanks Allyn. Nice point. I wonder if it’s petrified wood? Coral? Nice work.

It's Kay County Chert, comes from Oklahoma I believe.

Thanks Allyn. I saw that in title but reading replies I thought you got it in a hodgepodge and didn’t know what it was. You’ve knapped a lot of rock you harvested yourself to. That always impresses me. Thinking you should be able to find something interesting at your new stomping grounds.
Best of luck. Hopefully we can meet at silver spring next year. I would love to make that happen

Ha yeah it was a Hodge podge but some of the rock I can identify because I'm familiar with it through reading or other points people post. Some of it I have no idea. I do have some I thought was knife river but after working it I think it's root beer from Texas. I've found some potential rock here but I can't start collecting till be close on a house lol.

I totally understand the hodgepodge of rock. My collection is the same way.
Totally understand not wanting to start a new collection until you get your house. Man I sure wouldn’t want to move all my stuff.
