Recently finished up a boo backed Osage for a colleague of my wife. He is just getting into archery and wanted a traditional wood bow. He’s into partaking in the Highland Games and wanted a bow that would at least not be out of place. He also asked that I work in his family crest or motto, hence the writing on the limb. Fades were lightly scooped with a spoon carving knife. I stamped the leather on the grip with a Celtic leather stamp. It’s the first bow that I’ve used one of Eric Krewson’s tillering gizmos on. Greatly sped up the process and gave easy answers tillering questions when they arose. Full draw isn’t a great angle to assess tiller but I’m confident that it is the best tillered bow I’ve made - not just the final tiller but the process of getting their as well. 1 5/16” straight taper to 0.48” tips. 66” TTT. Not the fastest bow but a smooth shooter and one that I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

That’s a real beauty Brendan. Really like the tiller. Looks like a smooth shooter. He’s gonna love it.
-
Yep. Exactly what Will said. Excellent job on that bow Kidder.

Thanks guys. Was going to mention that the total weight with leather grip and string is 19.6 oz. Not sure if mass formula works on a bow like this but I’d be interested to know thoughts on the weight.

Gorgeous bow Brendan. Well done on that one. 52 lbs is perfect weight too. How did you do the crest on the handle?

Thanks Dave. It’s a leather stamp. Got it at Tandy. Took some experimenting to get it right. Basically you’ve got to soak the leather and stamp it whack the stamp with a mallet) and then let it dry. Partially stretched out when I applied it but I still think it looks good.

Sharp looking bow all around. Like that slight reflex maintained in the unbraced pic. Fella ought to be real pleased with that bow.
