Hey Folks,
First of all, many thanks to Salih one of my viewers who has send me some well seasoned yew - this is one of those staves
I really don´t know how to call this thing, Hybrid, Intersection, crossover. To me its looks like a ran over snake
The purpose was to make a yew flatbow with ~ 60"@28".
While chasing a ring and reducing the sapwood I realized the stave was quiet small but had a beautiful seperation of sap-heartwood.
I also didnt want to make a Molle again but I remembered a very unique bow I saw on a medieval competition.
That bow was like an Intersection of two bows - a Flatbow and a D Shaped Bow and it had a eliptial tiller... so I took a chance.
It was hart to get the pics into 249kb with still a good resolution but there are much bigger pics on Imgur - link below.

Nice bow dude. I like it. I’d call it a stiff stopped longbow. Looks like tip are working a little bit like you say it’s a hybrid. It’s good to experiment as you never know what you may end up with. Sometimes letting the stave tell you what it wants makes the best bows.

well that thing I saw on the marked a few years ago was longer and but also a eliptial tiller. also the levers were even thinner to the tips. The guy and his wife had both one from two bowyers who make / or made those quiet often but I didnt remember their names or the brand.
the bending area is about 73cm thats like 28,5" so just like the draw

Not really sure about the idiosyncrasies of the bend, but it looks like it might be a little hand shocky to shoot, due to set taken near the handle(admittedly not a great deal) ?
Not a criticism, because it looks like a very nice bow(as all your bows do). Just seeing if my assumption bears out.

no handshock at all 😎 and its ok to criticize. I also thought about the Holmegaard but the outer limbs would be more flat I think

That's a nice photo of the Holmegaard Bow, from an angle I don't think I've seen before.
It really illustrates that is has come from a small diameter Elm sapling with natural high crowned back and flat belly and the handle area has not been rounded on the Back side, and of course no levers!

However your tiller isn't elliptical. Too much bend in those inner limbs hence the set there.
The bend should've got progressively more as you went along the limb.

Liked the attention to detail overall and the working around and through those knots.Good amount of poundage out of that stick also.
Yew is some fine looking wood and most times with a lot of character such as this one.
I agree about the tiller also.There's different variations of eliptical.Some with longer straight mid areas and some with less.This is overall more rounded and very little eliptical.Old timers called it more round in the handle.Eliptical tiller helps mostly with denser woods like osage for reducing hand shock.
Gotta ask though.Where's the snake?

I like the concept of this bow - I have something similar on my to do list since long time! Nice execution here (-S the beautiful dark separation between heart- and sapwood is the so called line of death ;D

Looks nice, simple and effective. Good to see a bow w/o artificial arrow shelf.
