So wrapped up another hickory board bow. This one was slightly different from the previous ones I’ve made and posted here. 66 TTT. 57lbs at 28 inches. Previously I’ve made my bows with narrower profiled tips. But for this one I opted to go 1.5 inches at the fades straight to mid limb and then a straight taper to slightly less than 0.5 inch tips. Buffalo horn tips. Buffalo horn inlayed strike plate. The handle wrap is a Vinyl crocodile textured with a lace boarder. I like the look but the feel is just ok. It also didn’t lace up as nice cause it didn’t have the same stretch leather has. I finished this one with 6 coats of shellac buffed with pumice and olive oil. Never used shellac before and I am very please. Much easier to work with than Truoil, much quicker to apply, and seems harder, especially on the horn areas. Overall though I’m not quite as happy with this bow as I was with the last few - it had a little bit of twist that I ended up winning the battle and I have to live with. I also don’t feel like I “nailed” the tiller after looking at pictures - I feel like the bottom limb is too circular...but oh well. For bow number 7 I shouldn’t be too critical. Shoots good though so that’s really all that matters. Thanks and happy holidays!

And a couple full draws...

Nice clean looking job on the inlay. Got to try that someday myself. A good shooter you say, thats what counts. Congrats!

Great looking bow! I like your tip overlays and inlayed strike plate. Hickory makes a great bow.

I really like it. That is a great looking bow. You did a great job. Tiller looks really good and the detail work is nicely done.

Sweet bow Kidder, way to go. Love the handle and tips. I’m also a big fan of shellac. It’s not the best finish in the world but it’s very versatile and convenient. I also really like using it on leather.

I'm with the consensus here - it's a Beauty!

Nice tiller. Look like it'll be a hog killah.
HH!
