Title: Plum warbow 140#+ 32” (improper tiller)
Post by: druid on November 07, 2020, 11:52:37 am
This is plum warbow from stave I tried to save from fire. It was stave hard to place the string in the middle, with big hole and exactly 72” long. I heat treat it in 5”  reflex and it lost almost 3”, now is just bit over 2” reflexed. But, during heat treating I didn’t apply the same tension on both limbs and they went out uneven and bow came out twisted. I ruined the tiller I made before heat treating and had no nerves to retiller it. I will brake this bow soon, to soo how much it can take and how will braking place look so I can do it better in future bowmaking.
Length: 72”
Draw weight: 140+ at 32” (was 115-120 before heat treating and bow was dead straight)
Physical weight: 860 grams

Quite the bow.  Maybe 32" might be pushing it for a 72" bow

Thank you guys. 😌 I am glad you like it.
Marc, you are right. 32” is too long for 72” bow in that poundage. I just wanted to see how it will hold because this is third class quality stave, he was purposed just for testing and braking. And thank you for all heat treating advices you gave to me when I was on begining. Without your support I couldn’t learn that skill. 😌🙏🏾

Masterful! I was able to follow a lone ring line as it dipped and raised at least for what I could see. Very nice so far. Jawge
