Title: Tiller help(Osage short bow)
Post by: gilbarbarian on November 04, 2020, 01:06:34 pm
Hey back to making a few bows but I'm in need of some help on this tiller.   Little bit of a reflex deflex.  I'm going for a heavier bow, Right now it is around 70# at 23" draw.    My draw length is 25"   Bow is 55" N2N.  Any advice on the tiller?  Right side is the top limb which also has some checks on the back close to the fades which seem to be holding their own.  But I won't be putting a shelf on this one.  Should I fill in with tite bond glue or super glue? Thanks in advance.
Jeff

Thin superglue and lots of it, tap the side of the bow with something hard(screwdriver shank) as you put the superglue in to dislodge the air bubbles and let the superglue go to the bottom of the crack.

remove the material from the middle of the limbs and it will be good (from the left limb a little more than from the right ...) fill the cracks with super glue

In addition to the superglue, I think I would add a sinew wrap there - the check that runs off the edge makes me nervous.  It should be a cool bow!
