Title: D97 strand count and bow limbs harm
Post by: StickMark on August 07, 2020, 10:02:51 am
New thread to avoid hijacking wax and strings.
Would using the lower strand count of D97 aid in reducing energy going back into limbs.
Example, 8 strands for 45-50# draw weight, vs 12-14?

I've used down to 6 strands for 50# bows in the past but now use 8 strands.  Didn't notice any difference

I used to use Fast Flight. When that became unavailable I switched to D97. The strands felt thicker but the finished string weighed the same and actually felt the same. I use six strands with no padding but my bows don't get shot all that much. They also have a Bamboo back and/or overlays.

I think the difference is marginal for the bow, but a thicker string is more comfortable for your fingers.
