Title: Tip Overlay Glue Line Orientation?
Post by: mmattockx on June 05, 2020, 12:02:13 pm
I had to laminate two pieces of wood to get a thick enough piece for the overlay. I can glue the joined piece on such that the glue line is flat, basically parallel to the back of the bow or turned 90 degrees so the glue line is vertical, perpendicular to the back. Is there a better choice? The vertical orientation seems better to me as there will be no shear forces on the joint from the string but I haven't done enough of these yet to have a good baseline of experience.

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, Pat. Vertical worked out the best for material use so that is how they went on.
