Walked the dogs and collected some red osier and willow last night. Today I set a bobcat trap in the morning then just before lunch set after making this. My first time doing willow basketry and I think it turned out swell! Gonna put some wool in the bottom and some coyote fur around the top I think. Braid some cord and have a pokey back quiver!
Also, the half gallon of absolute had the perfect dimension for what I wanted- no sips were taken.

Wow, that is really great looking. Never used an ossier/wicker quiver. Always figured they'd be too loud for big game hunting. What do you think?

Man that looks great.

no sips were taken.
so there were gulps??? ;D
Good job. Im gonna need to try that. one more thing for the summer list ::)

How did you secure the bottom? I haven't done any wicker weaving so I am curious.

So yeah, it’s loud and I’m now thinking of putting a coyote hide in there. Maybe just the wool in the bottom and and the ring around the opening will quiet it down.
And it actually started by weaving the bottom circle, then jamming the long pieces in to the gaps of the main pieces and crimping them and bending them up and weaving around those which then ties those in to the bottom. YouTube taught me haha

Nice work Tracker0721.Cool quiver.
Wet laces of rawhide woven can be used to seal bottom good too.

That looks great tracker. I guess I must have missed this somehow.

I bet lining it with fur and/or wool will quiet it down a lot. Looking forward to seeing the finished project!

That is an awesome quiver you made!

Missed a coyote yesterday morning, bobcat trap was empty and this morning I thought my luck changed because it looked like a juvenile cougar was slipping out of the field and into the creek so I grabbed the gun but looking through the scope it was the biggest feral cat I’ve ever seen! It had to be some sort of bobcat/barn cat cross thing. I didn’t shoot it but now I’m thinking it would’ve looked cool in my quiver hahaha

Very nice

Mrs. Badger has a rather annoying cat (is there any other kind?), a gray tabby that looks for all the world like a Scottish Wildcat. I keep threatening to make a sporran out of her...
-
Might get a dna test on him! I understand the wildcats are in very threatened status in Scotland!

Oops! Just read that him is a her! Might not help much!

So many cat's, so few recipes...
Really like the quiver. Thought about one made of river cane. Have a lot of cane here in OK. John
