Title: Bamboo vertical cracks
Post by: whitefeather on January 19, 2020, 09:47:41 am
I have a bamboo backed Osage bow a guy gave me to finish and have noticed it has vertical cracks in the bamboo. I put some super glue in them . Is this anything to worry about ?

Some pictures if you can, please. I've made a few Boo Yew and I've not seen that happen. Like all lengthwise cracks they shouldn't be an issue if they don't run off the edge.

Just like with wood if the cracks are lengthwise and not violating the fibers you should be OK. Cracks across the grain are a problem or running off the bow can be a problem.

These types of cracks are not uncommon in bamboo, I see them frequently, super glue them and forget them.
