Im gonna buy a heat gun but what temperature do I want to get? I was looking at this one.

Milwaukee 1200-1500 watt for me. I bought a laser thermometer at Home Depot . My question is what temp are you bringing the wood to? Specifically for Osage mainly. I have been doing it by feel for years. Maybe the heat treat king Marc can shed some light here. Arvin

Heat it until it's too hot to hold your thumb on it. If you are heat treating a limb heat it until it turns a nice chocolate brown. We are talking about primitive archery, not nuclear physics.
