how do you sharpen stone blades or arrowheads? what tools? Thanks!
-
Check out Ryan Gills excellent video on sharpening stone points. Bob
-
could I use a notcher instead of the antler pressure flaker?
-
I like to use a horse shoe nail for sharpening and notchs. Bob
-
I use a horse shoe nail or very small copper flaker.
-
I’ve used an old ball pen in a pinch. It’s only good for super minor work though.
-
I have a horseshoe nail but I mainly use a chainsaw rasp ground to a fine point is my go to...works like a charm... gut
-
Gutpile, can you post a picture of the chainsaw file tool? John
-
its just a chainsaw blade rasp..round.. with point on it
-
so is the tang sharp? or the rasp?
-
the tang part.. is what I put a fine point on.. the rasp end isn't touched... you have plenty to hold and it takes tiny flakes to micro serrate... Im not a fan of big serrations as I find they can grab hide and actually hinder penetration.. they look cool... but on my arrowhead points I do small micro serrations...
