Here's an Ash-Backed Osage bow I made with some "paddlish" inspiration. The stave I had was just right for that type of design. Some of you may think at FD she looks like she could bend a bit more in the outer limbs, but given that that's where the reflex begins, I decided to leave her as she was. She's smooth drawin' and shootin' for such a short bow.
There's cork on the front and back of the handle for a more comfy grip, which I believe is an idea that comes from Wizard Goat. Thank you sir. :)
As always please feel free to let me know what you think. Hope everyone's enjoying the summer. I know I am! (-S

Some really nice subtle features, like the recurves, narrow tips, tiller and craftmanship. Beautiful bow.

very nice,,,congrats (-S

Very nice. I've often thought that I should make a paddle bow and try to get one of the native artists to do some west coast art on it. I haven't stumbled on the right stave yet and I would probably have to give him the bow. That would be OK though as long as I got some pictures.

Very nice shorty!! The design is also very cool and isn't often seen like that
Ash on OO ... didn't know that ash is better in tension...
Enjoying the summer as well
Cheers

Nicely done sir. Sweet profiles all the way around.
-
Thank you Rob, Hamish and Brad. (=)
I say go for it DC. Sounds like a great way to meet new people and try out a different design. :)
Thanks B2W. Ash makes a great backing, especially if it's air-dried. Not sure it's better than the osage in tension, but the glued-in reflex sure does hold the profile nicely. :OK
Thanks Slim. )W(

Great job Jeff on an awesome little bow!
-
I really like the strung profile. Nice job.
-
Another sweet bow Jeff! I always wondered about this style. Considering the extra width where it's bending the most, did you notice less set than normal?
-
Thank you Steve and Mr. Sniper sir. :D
Ben, a bit less, yes. I think gluing in some reflex with the hard backing helps as well.
-
Great looking bow! Really thinking outside the box. It's nice to see unique bows like this. 8)

Thanks Weylin. Your perspective is always most welcome :)

Love the profiles on that one!

That is a beauty! Jawge

Like that full draw! Nice details, too.

Sorry I'm late getting here Jeff. Very smooth looking profiles. Sure glad your making use of that ash. We are starting to see a lot of ash saplings again. I'm hoping the bore are gone by the time they get big enough that the bark gets rough.
Beautiful bow as always.

Thanks bushy!
Thank you Jawge :)
Great to hear from ya Parnell. Glad the FD looks good to you
Thanks M2A. Love seeing your work as well (-S
Thanks Hawk, I was thinking Meare Heath when I layed her out.
Thank you Del, and thank you by the way for posting that see-through horn nock. I'm working on an ELB and if I finally succeed with this buffalo horn, it'll be because of that pic.
BJ! No problem, I figured you've probably been working a lot. Yeah, I'm seeing those saplings as well. Maybe they'll evolve some resistance to the borer. Fingers crossed. Great to hear from you my friend. (=)

Cool looking bow, I bet it really drills an arrow.
