With all the lams and glue I've been messin with lately, I needed a little change of pace. )P( I had this piece of yew left over from some other projects so... :BB
She's only a tad over an inch wide and has a bit of natural set back in the handle, which I tried to accentuate with a little heat. She's a quick little lady. :D

Sweet! Bucket list thing for me is to work on a piece of Yew. You did that one proud.
-
Cool little yew bow. 8)

Wow! Like how you got that handle and those fades moving with everything like a dancer...Really nice tiller! Tiny Dancer?
Don
-
That's really bending, nice job.
-
Very nice Jeff. I think Don just named her for you. I kinda like that. Tiny Dancer. I've never worked with Yew yet either. Have a nice little stick from DVS hunter and I love it. Sweet shooting little stick.
Once again Jeff well done.

Thats a great bow, one of my favorite kinds, even though I haven't made one that nice yet. Did you take the sapwood down a bit? Very nice job!
-
Nice, bet she's punchy :)

I like it! Great tiller too! hmmm maybe I need to try some shorter bows too, those staves always end up in the "do it later" pile ;D
-
Thanks Slim and Pat. :)
Tiny Dancer it is Don! I even dig that tune. :OK
Thanks DC :D
Yew is definitely among the "royalty" of bow wood BJ. I believe they call her "the queen." If that's the case, I think Tiny Dancer would be a little princess. O:)
Thank you helmet. I did take the sapwood down a bit
Thanks Del and Leon )P(

Like the unbraced profile, great looking tiller. Very nice Upstate.

My hats off, master Jeff - that little stick is a great one and looks beautiful too.
-
Wow!
It is my dream to make something as nice as that. Well done Upstate. You must be pleased.
Love the alternate style nocks. Really cool.
Was it hard to come by the Yew stave?
-
Thank you for looking Rakau, stix and simson. :D
Ozi, welcome aboard. I have a few ways to get a hold of English yew around here. One is a local arboretum where there is a small forest of mature trees. A few windstorms over the past 2 years have knocked down huge Spruce, which in turn took down yew. The director of the arboretum allowed me to help clean up. (W
The other is to frequent our local highway dept. English yew (amongst many other varieties ) is planted ornamentally and every now and then I find it waiting for the chipper. :o

Jeff,
Once again, you really done a fine job on getting all the parts on that bow moving in sync...I love to see everything moving like that...I know that is a joy to shoot...Just brilliant, Sir

That's awesome Upstate. 'Opportunistic' you might say. If you don't ask, you don't get.
I fear that when I feel competent enough (worthy enough?) to try my hand at Yew, I'll be shipping it half way around the world.
There is a biological database in Australia which has species records, and there are a couple of records of introduced Yew from 1947 around an hours drive from where I am. I'm almost certain the area has been developed since and they won't be there, but I'm tempted to go and look. You never know, there could be some new saplings!
-
Awesome little bow Jeff! I hear you on the lam bows. After a couple in a row it becomes too much of a process.
-
Sweet little bow, Jeff!

Nice work. Great lines. I bet it is a snappy little bow.

Hats off to you as well Don for giving her the perfect name! :OK
I say go for a look Ozi. One of my favorite things about making bows is going on treasure hunts to find wood. )P(
Thanks for looking Ben. Hope all is well. Can't wait to see your work again soon! 8)
Thanks Hawk. :)
Thank you Sagebrush. She's fun to shoot for sure. (SH)
