Hi Folks
After my first Moelle - which was of elm - sadly exploded, I needed a replica. Avoiding any risks of failure I decided to go for a yew sinew combo. I'm happy with it. It's 60 ntn and pulls 42# @ 28".
Big props goes out to my man Wolfgang who provided professional assistance for my first sinewing job. If you have the time you should check his bows - He's not only a fantastic bowyer but a really nice and helpful person (http://bogenbau-wogai.com/).
Thanks for watching.
Cheers

Nicely done, congrats!

Nice bow simk. It really doesn't look that stressed on the tree. I would think it should last a long time.

I like that one Simon, I may have to copy that :D :D

Looks great. The Yew should take that :)

That's Yew heartwood only isn't it?
-
Thanks for the flowers everybody! Yes Don, its heartwood only - heavy lumber machinery damaged the sapwood on this stave so I planed it down, completly flat. And yes, it would be an honor you copying this one, looking forward. Myself I will also do more of these. Cheers

Spent the weekend reading up everything I could on that style. Looks like it'll throw an arrow with authority. Well done.

I like that, looks smooth and fast! Personally I love a little reflex bend in molly tips, nothing to do with a replica but looks really cool ;D
-
wow I'm impressed by this bend...
vey nice profiles,
I'm sure this one will not blow up

is there a reason for the long string grooves?
-
Thank you Mr. Masterbowyers!
is there a reason for the long string grooves?
It's not string grooves. There is just a contradiction in reflexed molly tips. If you don't mak'm a bit bulky they are soon unstable. therefore you best do a trapezial shape. then you reduce mass and tiller it by hollow limbing...that's what Wolfgang said and I tried.

Beautifull bow,i would like to shoot that a few times myself. :OK
-
Looks very fast. I think the limbs could be even more thin from ends. Nice job :).
-
That really is a beautiful bow!I'm not sure I would try that in a self bow without sinew?great work!
-
hey mr bushboy, your little molle was pretty impressive and inspiring for me - no heat treating, no sinew!!!
As the tiller had changed to negative I on monday added another 6,5 gramms of sinew on the lower limb. tiller is good and stable now. also did a new grip and better pics for you - cheers

I like the amount of photos. Feels like I am holding it, learning from it.
