Hi, new here from Pennsylvania! Last January I cut about a 12" diameter osage to start my first selfbow. No board bows for me wanted to have the complete immersive experience. I was able to get about 35 staves from the tree put up and drying. I worked one stave down in particular and felt it was ready by April 2018.
So was born my first bow. 62" 50#@28", and only took about 3/4-1" of set. Since i have made a 62" r/d and a 49" recurve that is a load! Tweaked it a little so waiting a day to pull it again but it was 55#@24" with at least another inch of draw length. I will post photos of those as well.
Please provide criticism as you see fit because I am still learning and have a long way to go!

Thank you foe the warm welcome and kind words! This probably wasnt the best stave to start with, it had a lot of wind checks that i filled with super glue and wasmt the straightest. Luckily the limb tips went in opposite directions and enabled the string to fall through the middle of the handle without any heat adjustment

Mighty fine start. I was suprised you were able to work that stave as soon as you did. Looks like you did it justice. We will look forward to seeing what else you come up with.
