Title: Keeping bark on a bow

I want to try another Ocean Spray bow with the bark on. Has anyone tried soaking the bark with a thinner mixed with non hardening oil? I was thinking lacquer thinner and 30 weight or automatic transmission fluid. I'm thinking the thinner would carry the oil into the bark and maybe keep it flexible.
