Pity there's nobody near me that would be interested in some HHB. I have a friend near me that has a large number of BIG Ironwood trees in their backyard and want to get rid of them, the biggest is probably around 12" in D. I don't have the interest anymore, they offered me one the other day, but I did have a look at the trees a few years ago and there is one humdinger of a tree in there

Maybe I could chop one out as a dug out canoe and paddle it back to the UK ;D

HH is a very good bow wood.
I've got some to use.
The bows don't come as easily these days.

I hope someone can find a good home for them Marc. I know I've got some a lot closer than you I need to get Harvested. Not nearly that big but nice clean straight HHB. It's saddens me even more that we won't get to see you bring them back to life as bows. I've always been so impressed with the tiller of your bows. You've helped me more than you'll ever know. I understand though. I guess the same thing that made that HHB tree so big is the same thing that saps our energy and interest. Years.

Yep, me too. I just cut several nice HHB trees a year and a half ago. They're ready and waiting for me. I lost some of my bow making drive, and I'm still trying to get my garage and shop put together after a move, but I'm certainly not done making bows. I think once my garage is done, I'll get back to it.
I hope someone can put those trees to good use. HHB is good stuff.

I haven't stopped making bows. I just stopped making bows for others. I have enough HHB to keep me going for years to come, at my rate of making bows now, and I don't need anymore. My friend's son is going to use them for firewood

Hate to see that but it's a bit of a drive for me, about 3000 miles, especially in winter ;D ;D

I make a few bows,,,, I dont sell any,, and find since I dont have a deadline, I enjoy it more,, and especially the ones I give away are fun,, but making only two or three a year, takes the pressure off, for sure,, I feel lucky to have one of Marcs bows,,,, its a nice plum one,,
