My daughter has been asking me to make her a bow since the first one I've built. I started this one the same time I started my second bow. They are all from the same Ash tree. This one had a nasty knot and emerald ash bore holes and I just set it in the corner. Awhile back I picked it up and chased a ring on it. It was so incredibly white. I decided to make her a birthday bow. Put black walnut sapwood, mullberry and black walnut on handle. Tips are ebony from recycled piano. They look better than my pictures. No stain just prairie rattler skins and 6 coats of tru oil.
Just over 62" n-t-n
35lbs @ 23" draw
Lefty but no shelf
Here she is Snow White

Yessir, that’s a fine bow!

Thanks Pat, Dave and George.
Jeff she has no idea. It's a complete surprise. Her birthday is in a couple weeks. I've got one Red Osier target arrow to go with it so far. Sometimes I think it's about the same time to make one of these arrows.
Thanks Morgan

Nice work and thought BJ.Good job!!

Nice bow BJ. You have your own style now, I can pick your bows out of the crowd!
-
Looks great! I really like the feathering in on the edges of the skins. It has a unique too to it that I really like compared to a sharp transition.

Sweet looking bow

Very nice, yep I could pick you bows out of a lineup any day..........nothing like building a bow for family.

ThankYou everyone. I actually got about seven new bows shooting right now that I haven't prettied up yet. I might even leave a couple that way it's just so fun shooting em like that. But tried a few different types.
Kyle I like that worn edge to. I like to if I can cut one skin in two and do each limb with one half. Then I lightly file away edge giving it a worn distressed look.

Nice looking bow that white wood really makes those skins jump out at you.

Very nice looking bow. Should be a special birthday for sure.

Nice looking bow.
The last couple ash bows I made have me wishing I would have cut more before they all died around my area.

Nice bow! Arvin

SWEET ! Two Thumbs Up - :OK ! Bob

Thanks Rob, your right the white really does make the prairie rattlers pop and brightens up their colors to.
Thanks bentstick, I can't wait to see her reaction. She's not going to see this one coming. She knows I've been busy building bows but hasn't seen this one.
Rps3 thanks and I wish I'd have cut more ash then to. I know I have at least one more stave from this tree that will need a ring chased.
Thanks Arvin
Thanks Bob

Thanks Hans
Thanks Aaron
Thanks Beard and glad you posted your first bendy handle
Thanks Phillip
Thanks Simson I just took the pictures on my iPhone. It's always hard to get good full draw pictures but I finally got my picture taker to get nice and square to the bow this time.
PS hard to see what picture your taking when everything is bright and white.
Thanks Kyle maybe everyone can tell my style because I hardly ever measure anything. Just length and center kinda mark end of handle and fades. Then it's just eyeballs and wood grain.

Good looking bow! She will need more arrows for sure! Neat name for a lady's bow. Had it been for a guy, "snow Snake" might be appropriate :BB >:D!

Great looking bow! Your daughter will be one happy lady (SH)

Thanks Hawkdancer, yes need to make some more arrows. Might be parallel shafts instead of shoots, we'll see.
For a guy I was think "White Knight" or maybe "White Lightning" or"White Snake"
Thanks DuBois
Thanks Mike

Ash is a great bow wood that sometimes gets discounted, but for me is one of the most dependable for getting a shooter. You've not only proved that, but elevated it's status!
That's one fine bow. The handle contrast and skins set it off beautifully. Happy Birthday to a lucky gal!
-
Thanks barebo. I really was surprised how snappy this bow turned out. I might have to chase a ring on another stave I have.
Thanks everyone for looking
