Hi Fellas just finished this one up as far as getting it shooting between yesterday & today only had about 150 arrows threw it , 68 1/2 ntn 46 lb. @29 it's averaging 173 fps 11 gpp arrow so far I think I can still lighten it up it's 22oz but the Mozambique riser is really heavy, water buffolow horn overlays it shoots really nice and dead in the hand I made this one for a 3 d bow & should work nice for it !

Nice bow, the "H" is for hickory?
-
Yep
-
Great tiller.
-
That means a lot to me coming from you pearly thanks !
-
Very nice. How does the bamboo work with the hickory as opposed to hbh? I'm still at the red oak stage working my way up to hickory then backed hickory.
-
Very nice! How thick is the bamboo, and is it uniform in thickness, or did you taper it towards the tips? I've had nothing but bad luck with bamboo so far, maybe because it was too thick.
-
Boy that’s nice.
These are the kind of examples that inspire me
Reminds me I need to fix or replace my chronograph! Thanks.
-
Lookin good :OK
-
Nice looking bow.
-
Thanks guys It worked out fine with the hickory I dont know about other wood this is the first bamboo backed bow I made , StickH yes and no on the tapper I started out at 3/16 and cut the front profile out and as I sanded down to 1/8 it took a nice natural taper I left the bottom half of the bamboo about 12/1000s thicker for positive tiller I just keeped checking with calipers & pre tapered the hickory core a lot of first for me but worked out well !

very nice great performance,,congrats
-
Thanks Brad its fun so far I want to get it broke in and retest but I think its going to end up pretty quick !
-
Good job, good example of putting the mass in the right places.
-
The fulldraw and chrono number says it all, really nice
-
Very good work on a nice looking longbow.Should serve you well for a long long time.
-
Thanks fellas nice compliments from some top knotch bowyers in my book , I have been getting better luck beffing up the lowers mass wise for the the extra in. of draw ,been working out good on the last 2 bows !
-
if those numbers are accurate at 11 gpp, your bow is faster than most glass recurves. good job.
-
Those numbers are legit 509 grain arrow but Im drawing it to 29 in. hence the 11 gpp arrow to compensate, actually I was getting faster results but didnt post tell 3 arrows same speed but its a fresh bow with only 150 arrows and I also left it braced for I hour before testing there are guys here that have made much faster bows ! wood bows can be as fast as the average glass bow a lot of Howard Hill bows are in the 160s !
-
Great looking bend, nice work
-
There have been critics of backing hickory with bamboo, but one of the best I've made was exactly that and was really close in design to yours.
I think you've got a winner there - Nice work!!!
-
Thanks again for all the nice comments, Im humbled by them , hickory has alwas been one of my favorite white woods its always been good to me if treated right it makes a great bow !
-
Way to go Stick! That's a very nice tiller and the profiles look fantastic. :OK
-
Nice bends!
-
Nice job, nice tiller and fast also. :)

I have about a little over 350 arrows threw this bow and nothing has changed still the same draw weight , didn't take any more set the bow doesn't seemed to be stressed at all didn't re chrony yet but shot this bow for hours last night and today it's a very easy drawing bow I really like it ,perfect all day bow no shock I want to try one now with osage and more reflex !
-
The one quality about bamboo that I like is that it seems at least for me, to help keep set down with a long or flatbow design. I've only done 8 or 9 with bamboo backing, and always seem to make the bamboo too thick. Next one will have it thinned down.
Sounds like you got a keeper there for sure - Excellent!!!
-
Nice work, and looks fast, too
