What width and length do you guys usually cut your fur string silencers? I make mine about 1/4" x 6". Is that about the normal size?
-
I make mine about 5" long, same width as you clint
-
I cut mine about 5" long and closer to 1/8" wide....

I make them more of a ball instead of a roll. Prolly 3 inches by 1/8.
-
1/4" is usually how I cut then but the length is determined on the shape you want, from round to sausage shaped.
-
1/4" wood by about 4" long. I tuck them in just under the Flemish splice, wind them around, and tuck back in. Jawge

Seems like it does'nt take much to quell any string humm noise.
-
...plus the more you have is you detract from the cast.
-
Try just strips of soft leather 1/4" x 4". Wrap it around just like fur on leather.
-
Muskrat really is nice stuff ,fluffs up nice and doesnt take much, like 1/8×4"

I think in most cases string silencers are more cosmetic than a necessity...but they do look cool. ;)
