Some of you may have seen a stave I posted in a thread called, "to wonk or not to wonk." Well this is the bow that came out of that stave. I included a few pics from that thread so you could see the full progression. Here's the stats...
63" ttt
47# at 27"
carp skin backing
leather handle
channel catfish skin arrow pass with felt on the bridge
buffalo horn tip overlays
yew underlays on the hooks
Thank you very much for checking her out :)

If I could make it again, I would make the hooks a bit shorter. The string does lift off the curves, but not as much as I would like.
P.S. There's still a little wonk on the lower limb after steaming. It is bending pretty even though.

Another beauty Jeff! I really like the carp skin. Fd looks great! Cheers- Brendan
-
Lovely bow, well done
-
That is a great bow, cool FD picture too
-
Wow! that bow look sweet. Nice job
-
Awesome! Lake Ontario ,,,,,,hmmmm,,,they should have a ferry to go across to Toronto ,,,,,lol!! ,,,,nice bow jeffw
-
Thank you guys. Jeff, good eye. It's a darn shame about that ferry.
-
Looks good, and you are right with your observations. Seems you are on the right track.
For your draw I would suggest to make the next bow shorter (in case of osage).
-
Sweet looking bow came out of that stave. Full draw is perfect. Should make for a nice hunting bow.
-
Good one! Artsy photos too!
-
Nice one! Well done with the recurves on that wonky stave. The skins look good on that bow! You sure make a lot of bows, I like that ;D keep 'm coming
-
Thanks for your input as always Simson. ;)
Bob, the plan is to take this bow Turkey hunting this week. Wish me luck! (SH) :G
DC, thanks buddy. I figure I post enough bows that it's worth mixing up the pics.
Leon, this is my second go with the carp skins. My dad's got a pond that's overrun with them, so they're easy to get and I do like the way they look. I'm pretty sure the protection is comparable to rawhide.
-
Very nice conclusion to your project Jeff.I like it.Really good photos too.Good luck getting a turkey with it.
-
Great job! I got a thing for those static tips. John
-
Excellent work! SS

Nice bow, the carp skin is cool.
How long are your arrows? It seems you could get two more inches of draw length out of that bow. From the FD pic, the draw length seems just under 26". A draw to 28" or even 29" would lift those hooks just a bit more.
-
Thanks Ed, I'm going out the day after tomorrow so I'll let you know how I do. ;)
Thank you Stoner and Sniper.
Joachim, may arrows are about 27" give or take a little. It was slippery on that rock and I took the picture on a timer, so I may very well have it pulled only to 26. Good observation! I'll take another look at the FD pic. If I'm drawing short, that makes me feel a little better about the length of the hooks.

Don't know how I missed this one Jeff, I've been really busy the last couple months. I really like this bow. I think it's your best yet, at least right up there. Nice work and hope you had fun hunting.

Great bow. Love everything about it!!!!
-
You did a fantastic job holding the profile on that bow. I bet it is a screamer.
-
Thank you all very much.
ntv, I really love your osage bow as well. Funny how we both had osage and fish on the brain around the same time. )W( )F( :)
BJ, It's a busy time of year! Your opinion always means a lot to me my friend. Deep Roots is an absolute beauty with an awesome story behind it as well.
Couldn't have made this bow without your approach to tillering Badger. Can't tell you how much I respect your experience and willingness to share what you've learned.
-
Very nice looking static
-
Love everything about it, great work
-
Love the carp skin and details on this. Really goes the extra mile.

Nice bow!
-
Thank you all for your encouragement. I'm away at a work training all week and I can't work on bows (my stress relief), so reading your comments is a really nice thing. :)
-
Missed this one also, that is a beauty for sure. Very nice work. :)
