Joe and I made some trades earlier this summer and he asked for some blades for my part. I think I made 5 all together and then the magic began. The blades were from jasper, agate, coral and Tx chert. Here’s the pics and I’m gonna let Joe fill ya’ll in on the details.

So good. Joe does amazing work, for sure. It's so interesting to watch people collaborate on projects and how they turn out.
The artistry is tremendous here.

FOUR kNIFE BLADES Top Blade: Caribou shed haft.
2nd Blade: Scott pounded out uncooked Texas chert. It has N.E. Territories
caribou shed haft with catlinite cap.
3rd Blade: Green jasper from Mt. St. Helens with a hippo tooth haft
4th Blade: Is, I think, coral with hippo tooth haft with catlinite cap
Bottom Blade: Is picture of the stand and knife we gave to my game
warden friend--caribou haft.

What he’s not telling you is how extremely difficult those handle materials are to work with. I’m still wondering how you carved the finger notches in that hippo tooth ivory. It has an outer enamel that is like cuttin porcelain and then the interior isn’t much softer. Super work Joe and thanks for the explanations. Still prayin for that shoulder.

I have had a major setback with shoulder surgery and so have not been able to finish the scabbards for each of SS's blades and I apologize for taking up so much space on the PA site. If I am allowed one snivel, then not being able this year to bow hunt for elk really stinks! Joe

Ok 1 sniffle but no more. ;)
Let’s make that elk hunt up next year. (SH)
