We are very fortunate at Hawkeye Bowmen to have many very talented Craftsmen with a wide variety of skills. This past Summer, We held some Seminars on Wednesday evenings. One of the seminars was about brain tanning. Hawkeye Member Rob did a excellent job of explaining the process. Inspired by Rob's work, I tanned a hide and made some bags but being new to the process my work did not come out as nice as Rob's. At the time I had inquired with Rob about making a shirt. This morning, Rob stopped by the house with it. All I can say is WOW! Excellent work Rob!
Take care,
Brian

Four hides to make the shirt. Here are some pictures from Rob's demo at our Club (Hawkeye Bowmen).

A few more pictures from Rob's tanning demo. Rob walked Everyone through the basic steps (encouraged our Members to try it hands on). He later made a video to show everyone how he smokes his hides. The Demo was well received by our Members. It was one of several Hawkeye Bowmen Members Night events our Club held over the Summer. We started with a Classic Case Knife Giveaway to honor some of our Members who have passed. Other events were a Blanket Shoot (where everyone brought a prize for the blanket and after we shot, the highest to lowest score picked a prize off the blanket), An Aerial target Night, A Kids and Grandkids Night, A Pot Luck Dinner Night, A Archery Darts Nights and a Vintage Bow Night (included old selfbows, old laminated bows and even some very early compound bows).
