This is my one and only Plum. One of the first staves I collected. I will definitely try to get more. This one split in the handle but I can live with it. It's 66"NTN, 43#@28". Shoots in the high 150's fps, best of 162. It shoots nice, almost centershot. I tried to leave the bark on but it was a no go. Nock overlays are fumed Ocean Spray. I thought the plum was hard enough to get by without an arrow pass so I filed two shallow grooves and filled them with graphite and CA.

I'm thinking it needs a few scrapes on the top inner half

Looks really good. Hard to diagnose the tiller on a character stave. Plum is not only a great bow-wood it is also a very attractive wood

Thanks Marc. It is a pretty wood. The back on mine isn't that great because I had to remove the bark halfway through tillering. I was a little chicken so it still has some inner bark on it. The belly looks great. I'm going on another plum gathering trip soon. :D

Great looking bow with the abrupt wiggle in the handle and all.Nice charcter bow.Just a shade flat from the fade to midlimb on the top limb but not much.
-
That's a beauty of a bow DC. I really like the ocean spray overlays!
-
Nice Bow DC, I'd like to try plum someday

I'm thinking your right Don. That's sweet weet looking bow though. I really like all the wiggles! Cheers- Brendan

Unfortunately, I normally get 3 or 4 bows on each shelf of my rack, this one takes a whole shelf by itself. :D
-
Here's about 20 scrapes off that stiff spot. I don't see much difference but it's a better picture.
-
It looks like it's working a little more. Looks much better I think. That's a pain that it takes up so much space. Sure is a looker though! Cheers- Brendan

Very nice bow, DC. I've never worked plum but it sure is a pretty wood. Well done. 8)

The knot/wiggle and character in that area is plenty excusable for that slight stiffness.Probably won't make any diff anyway in the long run.Native plum from your area?
-
Nice looking bow.

No, there is a hydro dam about twenty miles back that was built in 1957, I think. In the early years there was a resident maintenance man. The residence had some small yellow plum trees. The residence is gone but the animals have spread the plum trees around the area. Where they grow in the second growth they stay sorta straight.

That's local enough to me.
