Made this one from a biface I made from the rock the preacher gave me. This makes number three so far out of that rock and I still have a biface and a couple flakes to work.

Always liked the looks of a healed fracture, a little pucker factor while percussion thinning ??? :o :D Bob

As a non-knapper, I always wonder if you guys know some arcane black magic when you turn out one of these pieces with a healed fracture. That's just beautiful, stained glass cathedral kind of beautiful!

Love it, man! I've worked only a couple healed over like this and it amazes every time. Very nice indeed!

I have worked a few healed rocks myself. I posted a few blades on here and one had what I thought was a healed crack. It was a chunk of Jafar Jasper. Good colors in it and I saw the crack but went at it anyway. Low and behold right at the very end of working on it and when I was trying to clean up the edges it broke where the so-called healed crack was. I took the liberty to super glue it back together.
Probably give it to one of the grandkids so he can put it on the end of a stick.

Success rates with healed seams are low for me on a lot of material. Texas rock with seems has been holding together well for me lately.
I've heard the material filling the seam is way stronger than the rock itself,
Here's two bifaces made from consecutive slabs off a middle texas rock, this point was made from the one on the left. The layers of material changed drastically but the healed seem continued through the layers and played out before it reached the far side of the second slab

Here's that second preform from the other slab.

Outstanding work. I really like Texas rock. Hope to be heading out there next month with a couple of buckets.

Love it, so awesome!

Very cool!

Adds a little pazazz to some jazzy work :)

Thanks,
Here's one more from the same rock. This was a thin butt cut that was glued to a 2X 4 to clamp in the saw.
