Title: Yew pin nocks

I have tried pin nocks on my last yew bow. It's a 40# recurve. The pins are .25"(6.3mm) wide and .3" (7.6mm) deep, not counting the thin hoof overlays. I would like to narrow the tips some. Can I make the pins narrower? I could use thicker overlays and eliminate the shoulders but I thought I would give pins a try. Any thoughts?

This is just my opinion, but I would not go any narrower than .25". What's your goal? To reduce weight? Or just the look of narrower nocks? Do you have room to reduce the shoulder?

Reducing tip weight, I'm a speed demon. I can take a hair off the shoulders but not enough to make a big difference I think. If I put a bigger overlay on the back I can put the nock in it and eliminate the shoulders. I guess I'll try reducing the shoulders as much as I can and see what happens.

Make them  back notch only nocks then. Eliminate the shoulder altogether.

I know that you get annoyed with my questions :D, I just thought there might be an option I hadn't heard of.
