Pearly and Badly Bent spent a week at Danzn Bar's deer camp. I was able to come and hang out with them for a couple of days. The place was absolutely beautiful. It was very peaceful and relaxing. When Pearly and Greg would head to the woods me and Bill would hit the lakes. I haven't bass fished for about 15 years so I was a little rusty. It didn't take me long to get going again. We even got a little bit of bow work done. Bill was an excellent host. The meals were amazing. The deer were scarce but the mosquitoes were plentiful. It was nice to relax for a couple of days with some good friends. Thanks for letting me join in on the fun guys.
I'll post my pictures. I'm sure they others will be along shortly to add theirs.

Looks like fabulous area, guys! And good time had by all, am sure.
-
Thanks for starting the post for me Clint my laptop went out so I'm using my phone. I will not be able too post all of the deer pics we have. ;) It was the hottest week before gun season ever. My wife said that the all time highest temps we're broke two of the days. Had a great time Arrowbuster stopped by for a visit. Deer we're not moving much but I still enjoyed the company.

Looks like good times, beautiful place Bill and a great way to spend a week or 3😃. I know the food was good, plus hunting and fishing with bow work thrown in it don't get much better
-
Wow that looks like a lot of fun right there. Nice place Bill. Looks like you got alittle slice of heaven going on!
-
Man o man that looks like a beautiful spot.
Sounds like you guys had a blast.
-
Beautiful place, Bill. Good friends, good food and gorgeous surroundings...if only Pearlie had worn long pants it would have been perfect. ;D ;)
Too hot and dry here too. We only had 3/4" of rain last month and no rain in sight for the next 10 days at least. We should have had 4" to 6" last month. I think we are behind by 10" at least. Fire danger is high and that can be scary.
-
Oh... Deer camp... I thought you said Beer camp... but was I really wrong? ;)
Looks like a great place, and great company .

What a slice of life!

Had a great time, a week at Bill's camp is as good as it gets. What a host Bill was, the big guy gave us full access of nearly 1000 acres of beautiful hills, woods and lakes, fed us some great food and made us comfortable all around. Hanging with
Clint for a couple days was fun as it always is. Good to meet the other Bill (arrowbuster) when he stopped over. And by the way Bill we didn't let that bourbon you brought go to waste the rest of the week, had to celebrate the CUBS WIN ya know.
Hunting was slow, probably because of the heat but that didn't slow me and Pearly down. Exploring the property and seeing
all the fine deer habitat with out running into another soul was a treat. Shooting arrows, eating, fishing and telling stories around camp mid day and evenings was the perfect way to spend time between hunts. Gonna be hard to go back to work tomorrow after that week. :)
Thanks D-Bar, was a great week my friend.
-
Looks like you guys had a great time.
-
Wow what a place ! That's what it's all about - Bob.
-
You don't like my great nordern tan, Pat? :)
I have a ton of pics on my phone to edit and get posted on here. I think Greg ran out of Kodak Polaroid film, Paul Simon let him borrow it from '71 :):):):) He swears he is getting a smart phone right quick.
-
Fun looking at those pictures. Looks like a really beautiful place and great company.
Can't believe you guys are still rolling in shorts...amazing. 10 more years and Florida weather will go all the way to Nashville!
-
Parnell, it was 80 degrees. We sat outside in the evenings in shorts and t shirts. We didn't even start a fire.
-
Very pretty place! Glad you all got a chance to hang out.
-
Beautiful place looks like a lot of fun!
Kevin
-
Looks like a great time.. Doesn't get much better than that
Thanks Leroy
-
Looks like fun. I love camp pictures.
-
I have about 20 pics all sized and ready at home. Ill post them up tonite. I cant even start to describe the vastness of this place. Very intimidating with a wood bow and arrows in ones hand.
Bill was a true southern gentleman, amazing hospitality. He had dinner ready almost every night we got back to camp, we didn't have to wait long to fill our bellies up.
-
Looks like a great place with some great folks. That Kentucky or Indiana?
-
Kentucky, D.
-
Boston Kentucky, D.
Cool! That was a bit of a haul for you. Glad you got to make it. We'd love to see you at the Classic again in May.
-
It was about 550 miles. The ol' Hemi was hauling A on the way home. 2 fill ups and 2 bladder dumps and I still made it in 6.5 hours.
The Classic will be a while for me man. I cant afford to use that much vacation and still have family time and hunting time throughout the year. Marshall and Elm Hall eat up my "spare" time.
-
No particular order. The blurry pic of a bird? Well that my friends, is a genuine red blooded Louisville cardinal.
-
Greg is in a lot of these, he and I spent a lot time together in the woods and boat. I think we hunt good together, he may think otherwise ;D
-
Carried around Brycey boys yew bow he made for me. Damn thing is a driver of tacks, the guys may even attest to that. They all shot it.
-
We hunted equally from the ground and trees. This is a view from a cool ground blind I tossed up, total concealment.
The last one is the coolest place ever to stash all my gear all week. Perfect spot.
SURPRISE BUDDY!! We DID find Condo III
-
Thanks for getting some pics Chris, I gotta get me one of those fancy phones so I can take photos again, busted my 3rd camera so got nothing lately. Your right about that yew bow that Bryce made, shoots so smooth and fast plus it is flat out gorgeous to look at. We hunt OK together Pearly, you don't cramp my lazy style to badly. ;D
-
The fish was amazing. I tried some of Bills homemade cocktail sauce on fish, whoa...never again will I use anything else on fish.
Thanks for everything and thanks especially for opening the cabin up to Greg and I, Bill. It was an amazing place with all the adventure a boy could ever want! I laughed more often last week than I have in a good while. I think that bozo huntin' partner of mine was responsible for a bunch of them ;) Although he did save my life one cold and rainy night :'(
-
Yep there is Chris sneaking into Bill's favorite stand that we stumbled upon. Meanwhile Bill was preparing us tasty meal back at camp all the while not knowing that Chris was trying to take a deer from his stand. :D
-
I guess I did save you from a drowning in that rainstorm when you got lost in the woods at dark.
-
Big thanks to old logging roads. It would have been a nightmare getting around the briars and brush and tree tops and "hills". Getting turned around would have been real easy to do without a few crisscrossing trails.
-
Found a few more. The guys are all looking for my arrows behind the target while I sat back and snapped pics.
Bill hard at work cooking for us, boy he done good.
And a few shots of Greg, I love how well that coat blends right in with everything around it.
-
Great pictures Pearl. What a great adventure!
-
:) love that hat Greg :)
Condo III was a little tough to sit in without the bass seat hey?
We Just needed to see more deer
It will be a year to remember hottest week on record
Chris that book will be a good read I'll be interested in reading about doe scrapes. That might be some of what I've been seeing
-
Man does that look like a good time! I looked all over the pictures and didn't see a single wheel grill anywhere. :)
-
Dave
Please tell this ky hillbilly what a wheel grill is??
DBar
-
Thanks for sharing the pictures guys. It looks like a beautiful place to relax, hunt and fish.
-
Great pics pearlie, the ones of Greg remind me of when i was a kid and no one new what camo was lol. Bill is the recipe for that coctail sauce a lot like your gravy recipe😋 beauty of a place😀
-
Great pics guys. I'm sure Bill is a great host, only met him 2 times but only took one time to figure out he's a top notch person.
-
That close up picture of Greg in the boat is cool looking.
-
Looks like a great time guys! Too bad Greg can't post any pictures anymore. I was telling him a few weeks ago come to the dark side and go get one of those fancy phones
-
We did get Bill to start texting during the week.
-
Proficiently even.
-
Wow, good fishin, good huntin, good buddies and good food, and what a beautiful piece of mother earth to enjoy it all on!
Love the pics Pearly!
Kevin
-
Looks like a fine time was had by all in spite of the lack of a proper wheel grill ;D. Hot down here too. We have had no rain since September 16 at my place. Man, oh man! Having shared a campfire with most of these guys, I can only imagine that y'all had a great week. Great pictures. Me and Tommy and our crew have been slapping at mosquitoes and trying to fool a deer since October 15 so I haven't been on here too much. This post sure made me smile.
-
Sure looks like a great time, especially with this group of guys. Great pictures, thanks for sharing fellas.
Btw, I dig the plaid and the wool hat Greg. I have been wearing a lot more plaid going out to the woods, kind of a nod to the elders that went before us. Good times
-
What the heck is a proper wheel grill?
-
Its an old car rim with a grate on top fellas. Even this yankee knows that!
-

well said

Some of the best meals I've ever ate have been cooked over a semi truck rim.
-

Well hell we don't name stuff like that lol
-
Great pictures. Looks like a good time in a beautiful part of the country.
-
I gotta add a big +1 on that plaid wool coat. You just need the boots that lace to the knees, suspenders, and a flat brimmed campaign hat to look like you stepped off a Remington-Peters Ammunition Calender dated 1928!
-
Thanks Guys for the nice comments on the camp, but you know it takes people to make it......yeah it's great to slip out and be there for a few days by yourself, but being able to share it with others that have the same interest as you do is the icing on the cake....
I'm with ya JW, after all of the plaid those two guys were wearing, I'm throwing away my old faded camo and replacing it with plaid....

-
Nice buck
-
Good stuff
good to see ya got pearly out of town for a bit
see y'all in the spring
-
Beautiful place and looks like a great time. Were those Smallmouth Bass?
-
Looks like a fun deal there.
-
Largemouth Eddie.
-
Yep largemouth with small mouths :)
Smallmouths don't do good in small lakes that don't have running water. We just damned up a large hollow, only get moving water when it rains.
We have a lot of small bass and the fish and game has put a slot limit on them. Bass taste pretty good under about 12" long. ;)
DBar
-
Nice, those bigger ones would fit in our slot limit.
