Title: Id this rock?
Post by: sleek on October 15, 2016, 02:49:55 am
I kept a piece from last year because it chipped so well. I have no clue what it is, but it looks really cool. Found it in a rock garden at school in tulsa oklahoma area.

Sleek I'm not a rock ID expert but that looks a lot like stuff I find on our windmill roads. Sometimes it will have slick black stuff right next to it. I've been trying without any luck to get to quarry and find some stuff before it goes through crusher. It seems very nice quality and nice color.

Kay county is florence type A. Florence type C  can be found close geographically to type A. Some type C can knap rather well. There are I believe, A B C and D types of florence. Type A is generally found in Kay county in Oklahoma thus the name "Kay county chert".There is a type of florence A that is yellow in color that rivals all types IMO. Kevin I think I have some left I'll try to find it and set it aside for you.
