My brother had a big chunk taken off his forehead yesterday. A cancer , carcinoma.
We were told to pick a hospice for our dad yesterday too. He has gone down bad in 3 months.
A cognitive test 3 months ago had him at a 15. Now a 4. He's a WWII vet in a beautiful vets home
an hour north of us. Sad times.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. It always seems so strange that things pile up on certain families usally very good families to) Yesterday I attended a friends funeral. He was 50 years old and the nicest guy you could ever meet. There were at least 4 time more people than would fit in the church nobody left. He was taken in a car accident. His Dad got a scratch on his finger about 15 years ago got a staph infection and became paralyzed. He has regained use of his hands and can even walk with a walker with great effort.(he walked up the isle for his sons wedding) My friend has 2 brothers, one collapsed at work about a month ago found out he had brain cancer. They removed the cancer but said it is very common for this aggressive form of cancer to return. I don't know why this happens to such good people, but it pray they are given eternal reward that more than compensates for their struggles here on earth.
I pray that your family is given the strength to get through these hard times.

Rough day my friend, rough day. Just know you aren't alone in your hard times. I was never a compassionate person, but the last 9 years of my life have been turmoil and I've learned to care more about others as a result.
I hope dad passes peacefully. Its the very least he deserves.

Thank you,
I was told today this may take a while. Even in the shape dad is in , he's a fighter. I have felt for a long time that
he's afraid to die.

Very sorry to hear this, sending prayers to you and your family.

My grandfather was the same way. He to was a WWII STUD!!! The strongest man I have ever known or will ever know. Yet he was scared. He fought hard for a few weeks, but eventually the Hospice folks gave him enough medication that he relaxed and passed very peacefully. I thank God for that.
Hang in there and be as strong as your dad is and the rest will handle itself.

My dad is still alive. He is just a shell. Long distant stares. Can't communicate now. His
food is all ground into baby food. Hurts to see him this way. I wish he would go to sleep and wake up with mom.
-
Dog, be thankful you are there or can be with him.
He may not be able to communicate. That does not
mean he has no idea what is going on. Be as close
as possible, you won't regret it. In my book your mom
will is waiting for him with open arms. His move not
yours. With respect.
